A Recap of the 2023 American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry Conference

American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) Conference 2023:

Executive Home Detox (EHD) once again has attended and exhibited at the AAAP (AAAP.org) Conference. The conference was held at the beautiful Rancho Bernardo Inn located in Rancho Bernardo California. Six-Hundred-Fifty Psychiatrists and mental health professionals attended the conference.  This was the first conference held that allowed exhibitors since the Covid Pandemic. Thus, EHD appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with old acquaintances.  And we were able to begin new relationships with Psychiatrists and mental health professionals that have a sincere interest in working with our clientele.

What is the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry?

According to their website: “AAAP is a national professional society that focuses on evidence-based prevention, treatment and recovery approaches, particularly for people with substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.”  As such, EHD continues to find AAAP and it’s members to be a combination of clinical and academic  professionals keenly interested in sharing their experiences in caring for clients and patients. It is refreshing to discuss standardized protocols that have been in use for years and new evidence based practices that compliment or improve on the past treatment modalities.  Additionally, AAAP has a yearly conference, state chapters and a robust website to guide the practitioner in providing competent and ethical treatments.

Conference Content

The content in the conference was very well received by attendees and by EHD. Four specific areas noted were; Alcohol use disorder, Opiate use disorder, Cannabis related issues and treatments, and Individualized treatment for Women and Diverse populations.  EHD benefitted greatly from the content delivered. The clients of EHD request our help with Alcohol Detox and Opiate Detox. We were able to discuss, share our experiences in delivering care for clients and learn from some great clinicians and academics.  We look forward to enhancing our care based on the AAAP Conference content.

AAAP Conference in 2024:

The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry conference will be held in December of 2024 in Naples, Florida. As a result, EHD will look forward to  supporting the AAAP by exhibiting at the conference.  And maybe enjoy some sunshine as well.
