Who Writes Our Content

All clinical and educational content on homedetox.com is written by William (Bill) Carrick, RN, founder and President of Executive Home Detox. Bill received his Masters in Nursing Administration in 2005. He is a Registered Nurse with more than 44 years in addiction and mental health nursing, with clinical training from Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital. He is the past president of the American Society of Addiction Nursing and has served on the boards of the International Nurses Society on Addictions and the Foundation of Addiction Nursing. Executive Home Detox has assisted in more than 3,500 medically supervised detoxes. He held a Certification in Addiction Nursing from 2008 to 2023.

What Our Content is Based On

Our articles draw on five decades of direct clinical experience in both mental health and addiction nursing including supervision of alcohol and drug detoxification programs, current practice standards in addiction nursing and addiction medicine, and recognized medical sources. Where we describe medications, symptoms, or withdrawal timelines, we describe what is typical and standard in clinical practice; individual experiences vary.

How Content is Reviewed and Updated

Every clinical page and article is reviewed by Bill Carrick, RN MSN before publication. Published content is revisited when clinical practice changes, when a reader or clinician raises a question, and as part of our ongoing content reviews.
