Kratom Detox & Withdrawal Management
Executive Home Detox (EHD) provides expert, private medical detox for individuals dependent on Kratom
Kratom is often marketed as a “natural” supplement, but Kratom withdrawal is clinically similar to opioid withdrawal and requires professional, around-the-clock management to ensure safety and comfort.
What is Kratom?
Kratom is derived from the leaves of the Mitragyna Speciosa tree a Southeast Asian relative of the coffee plant. Despite its herbal origins, it carries significant risks:
- Dual Effects: At low doses, it acts as a stimulant; at high doses, it mimics the effects of an opiate.
- Legal Status: It is not FDA-approved for any medical use.
- Common Use Cases: Often used to self-treat chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and opioid withdrawal.
- The “Gas Station Heroin” Label: Because it is easily accessible in convenience stores, users often underestimate its potency and addictive potential.
Our 5-Day Medical Detox Process
We provide a comprehensive, 5-day withdrawal management program led by a live-in Registered Nurse (RN). Your RN monitors vital signs and symptoms in real-time, providing an evidence-based level of care that significantly reduces discomfort and safety risks.
We offer three primary pathways for Kratom detoxification:
Option 1: Comfort Medications
Best for newer users or those without a history of opiate misuse. We utilize a combination of medications to make the process tolerable:
- Clonidine: To manage blood pressure and physical restlessness.
- Antispasmodics & Muscle Relaxants: To ease cramping and body aches.
- Targeted Support: Anti-anxiety agents or tranquilizers to manage insomnia and agitation.
Option 2: Comfort Medications + Buprenorphine (Short-Term)
This option combines the comfort medications above with a short-term Buprenorphine (Suboxone) taper. The Buprenorphine is used to “bridge” the most intense days of withdrawal before being gradually discontinued.
Option 3: Buprenorphine Maintenance
Recommended for clients with a long-term history of Kratom abuse or chronic opioid dependence.
- Includes initial comfort medications.
- Establishes a stable, daily dose of Buprenorphine to prevent relapse.
- Note: This option results in a long-term dependence on Buprenorphine, which must be managed by a provider.
The Reality of Kratom Addiction
Is Kratom addictive? Yes. Many people fall into the “Kratom trap” unknowingly:
- The “Wellness” Myth: It is often touted at retreats as a harmless relaxing agent.
- The Opiate Cycle: Many use Kratom to quit opioids, only to find they have replaced one powerful addiction with another.
- Rapid Dependency: What starts as occasional use quickly escalates into a physical need to avoid debilitating withdrawal symptoms.
